Camera Lenses

The way you use camera lenses can make a world of difference to the photographs you take. You need to use different lenses at the appropriate times to truly optimize the capabilities of your camera. If you are shooting under circumstance where you do not have the time or the opportunity to plan your shots, you will require versatile lenses that give you different options.
Apart from the simplest variety, most cameras offer lenses which have a number of ‘lens elements’ which aim to direct light rays so that they can recreate images as accurately on a digital sensor as possible. The purpose is to avoid optical aberrations such as less contrast, blurred image or colours, which are not aligned.
Among the most commonly, used lenses are the wide angle lens and the telephoto lens. The wide-angle lens has a small focal length while the telephoto lens has a larger corresponding focal length. Many people say that the perspective of an image is dictated by the focal length. However, perspective only changes with your location relative to your subject.
If you try to shoot the same subject with a wide angle and telephoto lens to fill the frame, you will have to move further back or forward and thereby change the perspective. Under these circumstances, the wide-angle lens stretches or exaggerates perspective while the telephoto lens flattens or compresses the perspective.
The ideal lens for an amateur is the zoom lens, which facilitates shooting from different distances without having to compensate on focus and picture quality. It is a versatile lens and provides many options.
